Visual Next and ColourMart Partner to Offer Precision Color Processes in PLM

Visual Nex and ColourMart are partnering to bring precision color management to the Visual PLM™ platform. Color Lifecycle Management (CLM) improves the speed and accuracy of color palette management, lab dip approvals, bulk fabric color QC, and other color processes.

Two industry pioneers and leaders in their respective technology spaces have formed a strategic alliance to integrate precision color management capabilities into PLM and help fashion and related companies transform a traditionally manual, subjective, and time-consuming Color Lifecycle Management process.

Montreal, QC, Canada and Shrewsbury, UK – July 11, 2018 – Visual Next, leading provider of End2End solutions for the fashion, footwear, and accessories industries, and ColourMart, Ltd., a developer of cloud-based color management solutions, are partnering to integrate precision color management capabilities into Visual Next’s renowned Visual PLM platform. The addition of Color Lifecycle Management (CLM) tools to Visual PLM promises to streamline and improve the speed and accuracy of color palette management, lab dip approvals, bulk fabric color QC, and other color processes.

According to Visual Next’s Vice President of Research and Development Charles Benoualid, “With so many fashion retailers, brands, and manufacturers challenged by the lack of speed and accuracy around color-related processes, we saw the addition of CLM capabilities as a natural extension of PLM. In much the same way PLM accelerates and brings transparency and collaboration to product development, CLM can transform traditionally manual, time-consuming, and subjective color tasks into more accurate and responsive processes with permanent removal of time, costs, and errors.”

ColourMart’s innovative PaletteManager solution is used by colorists, designers, and developers to develop and manage color palettes. Advanced search tools enable users to quickly search libraries by color, text, and other attributes. Users can sort, filter, edit, annotate, and manage library colors to build new palettes that can be split, combined, compared, and analyzed visually in 2D or 3D. The ColorFlow tool uses an intuitive dashboard display to track and manage the entire color approval process. It provides a much higher level of visibility and control to both specifiers and color suppliers (dye houses/mills) as they manage digital and physical color submissions and approvals.

“While color is one of the most important aspects of fashion, most PLM systems do not support digital color measurement and management processes,” explained ColourMart Owner Richard Lawn. “We have long believed that the marriage of PLM and CLM could accelerate and improve color decisions and applications. We are pleased with the opportunity to partner with Visual Next and look forward to empowering their customers to streamline and improve the accuracy of their color management and approval processes.”

Japan begins reclamation at disputed US base despite protest

Dec 14, 2018

TOKYO — Japan's central government started main reclamation work Friday at a disputed U.S. military base relocation site on the southern island of Okinawa despite fierce local opposition. Construction workers dumped a truckload of sediment and bulldozed it into the sea at Henoko on Okinawa's east coast to build a runway for a Marine Corps base that will be relocated from densely populated Futenma in the southern part of the island. The central government has reversed Okinawa's earlier ban on landfill work at the site. Opponents of the relocation say it would not only be an environmental debacle but also...

Japan's 'tankan' economic survey shows sentiment flat

Dec 14, 2018

TOKYO — A key quarterly economic survey released Friday by the Bank of Japan shows sentiment among large manufacturers remained unchanged, as worries about global trade tensions persisted. The "tankan" survey showed sentiment remained flat at 19 for a second time after three quarters of decline. The survey has long been seen as an important indicator of the state of the world's third largest economy. It measures the difference between companies surveyed that have a "favorable" outlook and those with an "unfavorable" outlook. The manufacturers surveyed include automakers and electronics companies that are mainstays of Japan's economy. Some analysts had...

The Latest: EU chief says May had no plan for help on Brexit

Dec 14, 2018

LONDON — The latest on Brexit (all times local): 11:25 p.m. EU Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker says British Prime Minister Theresa May failed to bring a clear plan for how the European Union should help her get the Brexit deal past her recalcitrant parliament.  Juncker says that the British "still need to say what they want instead of asking us what we want." He said early Tuesday after an EU summit that he will need answers "within a few weeks." Juncker says it sometimes is tough to fathom his own state of mind but adds that "it is even harder...

Top-ranked Djokovic, Halep honored by ITF as World Champions

Dec 14, 2018

LONDON — Novak Djokovic and Simona Halep were named the 2018 World Champions by the International Tennis Federation on Thursday after each won Grand Slam titles and finished the year atop the world rankings. Djokovic, recognized by the ITF for the sixth time, won the Wimbledon and U.S. Open titles a year after undergoing surgery on his right elbow. "I am particularly proud of this achievement after all that I've been through physically this year, but part of me always believed I could make it back to the top," Djokovic says. Halep, who won the French Open in June, earned...

Betting ads cut from UK sports broadcasts, still in stadiums

Dec 14, 2018

LONDON — Television advertisements for bookmakers will largely disappear from British broadcasts of live sporting events, although not completely. The restrictions bookmakers have accepted don't prevent them from sponsoring teams or continuing to flash betting odds on electronic hoardings at stadiums, particularly during televised Premier League matches. "I am sure that other issues such as perimeter advertising, shirt sponsorship (and) online advertising will remain on the agenda and the Industry Group for Responsible Gambling will look at it as part of its annual reviews of its code," the organization's chairman, John Hagan, told The Associated Press. "But for the moment,...
